Who was Herta Oberheuser?
Dr. Herta Oberhauser was a Nazi physician who served at the Auschwitz and Ravensbruck camps between 1940 and 1943. During the Nuremberg Medical Trial, Oberhauser was the only female defendant. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but it was later reduced to a mere 5 years. During her active years, Oberhauser worked under the supervision of Dr. Karl Gebhardt.

What Experiments did Herta Oberheuser conduct?
During her horrendous career, Oberheuser tortured 86 women (74 were Polish political prisoners) by subjecting them to bone, muscle, and nerve regeneration and bone transplantation. Oberheuser also murdered healthy children, injecting them with oil and evipan needles. Afterwards, she would amputate their limbs and remove vital organs. Throughout the procedure, the victims would be aware of everything happening to them, until their last moments. Oberheuser was also known to rub wood, rusty nails, slivers of glass or sawdust into German soldiers' wounds, attempting to simulate them.
